Let's make some lemonade out of this total "shirt" show, kids!

A Special Pandemic Project

Starring Julio Vincent Gambuto

It was 2020. And the world shut down very quickly. Kids across the country were going to Zoom school. And Uncle Julie emerged. With the help of his friend, Lizardo—a world-traveling lizard–Uncle Julie channeled Mr. Rogers, coming over the interwebs daily to entertain and engage young people. In fifty (50) interactive episodes over two seasons on Facebook Live and then YouTube Kids, he quizzed viewers on pop culture, history, cars, foreign languages, and all sorts of fun kid topics—teaching civics, citizenship and kindness along the way. As kids dealt with the aftermath of the pandemic and the shutdowns, Uncle Julie helped them make lemonade out of some pretty terrible lemons.

It started out as a way for me to connect with my niece and nephews while we were all in lockdown, and it just became a daily ritual. The same kids watched over and over. And it re-connected me to the Mr. Rogers inside. — JVG
