Yikes, the American Dream is about to become an American Nightmare.

Short Film
Starring Joseph Callari, Andrea Helene, and Dylan Naber
Staten Island, 1993. Big Julie has been a bus driver for 26 years and wants his piece of the American Dream. When he sees an infomercial for a new franchise business, he quits his job and sets out to get rich quick! But door-to-door sales includes one too many slammed doors, and his family must step in to help him avoid utter failure. Inspired by classics like Brighton Beach Memoirs and Radio Days, The Julie Stories is about fathers and sons, the meaning of family, and the odd-but-joyful experience of looking back on the formative experiences of one’s childhood.

“For my USC film school thesis, I wanted to tell my story—at least one important story about my childhood, about growing up with a dreamer for a father and what that meant in the 90s and what it means to me now as a filmmaker.” — JVG
