One-Man Show
Played at Theater Row in New York City
Played at ACME Comedy Theater in Los Angeles
Right out of the archives, this was JVG's very first fully professional project, the culmination of his early standup and theater work in college and in New York. Produced at New York City's Theater Row, Julio Vincent Gambuto took to the stage for one show a month for two years—to showcase his comedy and storytelling. As young "Julie" leaves Staten Island for Harvard and then comes out, it's an identity crisis that has only one resolution: just be you in every room you're ever in.

“Julie from Staten Island was my first real show after college. It was a chance to figure out the kind of storytelling I wanted to do—how, where, about what, in what style. Mike Birbiglia was a big influence, so was John Leguizamo. Is it standup? Is it theater? It's both really. It's a guy on a stage telling a really funny and heartwarming story.” — JVG
