JULIE FROM STATEN ISLAND (2009)
Stage Show (90m)
Written and Performed by Julio Vincent Gambuto
Directed by Linda Smith
In his first full-length one-man show, Julio Vincent Gambuto takes to the stage to tell the fish-out-of-water-out-of-water story of a young boy named "Julie," the gayest teen on Staten Island, who leaves for college and on a journey of discovery, identity, and homecoming.
- Ran at New York City's Off-Broadway house, Theater Row, from 2008-2009, playing a three-week run, followed by one show per month for two years
- Played in Los Angeles at ACME Comedy Theater, 2009
"Julio talks about his love of words fairly early on in the show, and the wit and dexterity with which he handles his potentially heavy-handed themes is a testament to what that love can do."
