In New York, Julio Vincent Gambuto has appeared in the first incarnation of Theatre Askew’s Bald Diva! (the Off-Off-Broadway production of which went on to be nominated for a GLAAD Media Award), as well as the downtown theatre company’s production of The Tempest, as Ariel, and I, Claudius Live! Other credits include: American Triptych (HOMOgenius Festival), So Long Laura Paris, I Google Myself (a new play by Trick scribe Jason Schafer), Don Juan Does New Jersey, Conservatives in Love, Love Dr. Mueller, and Volcania: The Wedding (Philadelphia Fringe). Julie from Staten Island, Julio's autobiographic sit-down stand-up comedy show debuted at The Studio Theatre at Theatre Row in April 2008.

Julio has appeared in The Nappy Fro Show at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, California, and has performed stand-up comedy at The Improv and Room 5 in Los Angeles, and at Caroline’s on Broadway and Comix in New York.

A graduate of Harvard University, Julio Vincent Gambuto earned his B.A. cum laude in English and American Literature. While studying Shakespeare and classical theatre, Julio acted and danced with the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club and was the recipient of the Caroline Isenberg Prize for contributions to the performing arts. His final roles at school saw him as Lord Capulet in Romeo & Juliet, and as a Bronx zookeeper Artie in the mainstage production of House of Blue Leaves, by John Guare, which proudly ran at the Loeb Drama Center at the American Repertory Theatre.

Julio is the co-founder of TAYPE, an after-school theatre program for LGBTQ teens in New York City, and is a member of the First Look Theatre Company at Tisch School of the Arts and The Actors Collaborative. His writing has appeared in The Harvard Crimson, GENRE Magazine, Instinct Magazine, and Let's Go California 2000 (St. Maarten's Press, 1999).
